Lectures, Master Classes, Music, and Sports: HSE Day at Gorky Park
On September 5, Gorky Park will transform into a large HSE University campus, open to all. HSE Day, first celebrated in 2012, has already become a tradition. Last year, more than 70,000 people attended the event. The celebration drew students new and old, faculty members, locals, and tourists. This year will be no exception!
What to Do at HSE Day: From Fashion to Science
The HSE Day programme is extensive and diverse, just like life at HSE. The main thing is to find something to your liking and spend time with friends. At the event, you can:
explore technological innovations
The Science and Technology area welcomes visitors who are interested in robotics and physics experiments. You can interact with scientists of HSE physics faculty, take photos with optical illusions, and learn how the environment affects big city residents.
expand your horizons and master the art of small-talk
In the festival’s English-language lecture hall, you can participate in discussions with professors from leading foreign universities, and at ‘The Whole World in One HSE’ platform, you can enjoy some tea and bagels with international students from Asia, Africa, and Europe.
attend a fashion show
Students of HSE’s ‘Fashion’ programme regularly participate in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. At this year’s HSE Day, students of the programme will present their collections inspired by the individuals and subcultures who have shaped youth culture of recent decades. The show, ‘HARD 007: Signs and Codes’, will be sponsored by adidas.
get a workout
Though HSE University does not offer courses in physical education, HSE students love sports! Join a 5 K run and learn about the wide selection of sports clubs HSE has to offer.
attend talks by HSE professors
Cinema, antique history, marketing, game design… Our teachers will give lectures on a variety of topics. And there will be a special surprise from HSE’s popular scholarly magazine IQ.hse.ru!
learn about your future profession
Students will be interested in the HSE interactive platform, HSE. Career. Start. Here you can interact with and learn the ins and outs of various professions from specialists of today’s leading companies – and find your dream job!
relax, listen to music, or create some art
HSE doesn’t just learn, work, and change the world; HSE also knows how to have fun! Sing along with HSE’s musical types, play Mafia, participate in some trivia, or embroider a favorite quote from your favorite song onto a T-shirt. In addition, new first-years can learn about student media, charity organizations, and other student organizations at HSE.
Then what?
Special for our first-year students, we will cap off the day with an open-air concert at the Green Theater. HSE Lyceum students, HSE University students, graduates and university staff are also traditionally invited.
The headliner of the show will be announced soon. Tickets required for admission.
A detailed map and description of the sites can be found on the official HSE Day website (in Russian, English version is coming soon).
