The Third International Kotchoubey Readings ended on October 9. Held online for the first time, this year’s event looked at ‘Digital Solutions for Private Collectors.’ Following are the topics the experts discussed and the results HSE students achieved.

For Roman Nesterov, PhD student and research assistant at the Laboratory of Process-Aware Information Systems (PAIS Lab), working remotely had already been the norm long before this spring. As student of a cotutelle PhD programme, he is constantly working with colleagues from Italy. We spoke with Roman about his research and about how one can pursue joint doctoral studies with another university abroad.

Hundreds of scholars from all over the world teach and conduct research at HSE University. At the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) alone there are more than 30 researchers who hold PhDs from universities outside Russia. One of them is Emiliano Catonini, who completed his second research project this year and is now preparing it for publication. He spoke with the HSE News Service about getting students to put their phones away during lecture, surviving academia, trading energy for economics, and falling in love with Moscow winters.

Sixteen top managers of leading Russian and international companies gave online guest lectures and master classes at the HSE Graduate School of Business. CEOs and department heads spoke to students of all Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes of GSB.

This year HSE University is launching a new Master's programme in Critical Media Studies. HSE bulletin HSE Look has talked to Olga Baysha, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design, who was involved in creating the programme, about her path in academia, research interests, and teaching.

While studying in HSE University’s master’s programmes, students receive an education that is developed with an eye towards specific professional markets, they can pursue research tracks, and they can even design their own individual curricula that incorporate coursework and expertise different programmes. HSE Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin discusses these benefits and others of HSE University’s master’s programmes.
