The series of descriptions of historic buildings in Moscow owned by HSE concludes with this account of what was once School Number 135 in Maly Gnezdnikovsky Pereulok. This was considered an exemplary institution, and the finest teachers in the region taught there. Of course, the schoolchildren’s behavior was not always exemplary – and one incident even forced the Headmaster to resign.

Team of First-years from Faculty of Computer Science Make It to Finals at International Olympiad
The semi-finals of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) took place on December 7, and two teams from HSE received second place certificates. One of the teams was fastest at carrying out its task and made it to the finals, which will take place in Morocco in May 2015.
‘Professors’ music,’ or Klavierabend for two
On December 5, the Higher School of Economics hosted the Piano Evening for Two. The event lasted two hours, during which time Michel Grabisch, Professor of Computer Sciences at University Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne, and Sergei Erofeev, Vice Rector of HSE, performed compositions by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Ravel and Bach.
‘Nature and the System’ Student Exhibition Opens at Myasnitskaya 11
On November 28, an exhibition of works by second-year students in the HSE School of Design – ‘Nature and the System’ – opened in honour of the Higher School of Economics’ anniversary. In their works, students were to reflect the relationship between these two categories.
