from 18 countries were submitted for the third Innovation in Education Contest. The number of people wishing to take part in the competition increases year-on-year: in 2014 – 577 applications were received, and in 2015 – 678.

Studying Software Engineering at HSE

The Master’s programme in System and Software Engineering aims to provide students an opportunity not only to acquire the knowledge and experience they need in their chosen profession, but also to help them generate a systemic view on bringing resolutions to the difficult professional challenges they are certain to face in the future. Academic Supervisor Dmitry Alexandrov talks about programme features and international students share their experience of living and studying in Moscow.

International Criminal Moot Court 2016

On April 28 th  and 29 th , 2016, an International Criminal Moot Court took place at the HSE Faculty of Law. A moot is an imitation of a procedure at the International Criminal Court, where students represent sides of the process (the prosecutor, the representatives of the aggrieved side and the accused country), and the judges are invited lawyers from Russia and European countries.

Russian-Polish School of Young Historians

An international school of young historians, ‘Russian – Polish Entangled History: Scientific Reconstruction and Reflection in the Collective Memory’, took place in April at the School of History (HSE Moscow). Undergraduate and master’s students from HSE and the University of Warsaw took place in the event. Alexander Kamensky, Andrey Iserov, Dariusz Klechowski, Director of the Polish Cultural Centre in Moscow, and Leonid Gorizontov, who lead the organization of the Russian-Polish meeting.

HSE Student Gets into a PhD Programme at Stanford

Each year, scores of HSE students from varying disciplines set off for PhD programmes at some of the best universities in the world. Nadezhda Kotova, who is currently in her final year of the HSE-NES joint programme in economics, tells us how she got into the Stanford Graduate School of Business. 

'The Trip Helped Me Realize That My Projects Are Relevant Outside of Russia As Well'

May 12 is the deadline for this year’s Innovations in Education Competition (KIvO-2016), which has now taken place for three years in a row. The winner of the competition will receive a travel grant to study or try out a project anywhere in the world. The first year’s winner, Diana Kolesnikova, has returned from the U.S., where she studied how educational spaces and various other educational projects for children are set up. 

HSE Students Part of SAP Hackaton Winner Team

A team which includes several HSE students has won the SAP InnoJam hackaton in Moscow. The winners will now move forward to the SAP InnoJam in Europe this autumn.

FIFA President Awarded HSE Sports Management Graduates

Graduates of the joint FIFA/CIES – HSE programme in Sports Management have won the FIFA/CIES Network Prize for 2016 for their 360º Academy project. The winners were awarded their prize by Gianni Infantino.

'We Follow the Traditions and Standards of the Best Business Schools'

In 2016, the Strategic Corporate Finance (SCF) programme is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is becoming fully English-taught. Anastasia Stepanova, a graduate of the programme and its current academic director, told us about the unique features of studying in the programme.
