On December 7, the sixth meeting of the HSE International Advisory Committee opened with leading experts from around the world in the field of science and education coming together to discuss the university’s achievements and the challenges it faces, as well as its objectives for the coming years. Following two days of discussions, the committee members will form recommendations on changes to the primary areas of development.

Thomas Piketty Delivers a Lecture at HSE
On November 26, Thomas Piketty, a famous French economist, delivered a lecture at HSE and presented the Russian edition of his best-selling book Capital in the Twenty-First Century. The event was organized by HSE Laboratory for Studies in Economic Sociology and Moscow Centre for Franco-Russian Research (Centre d’études franco-russe de Moscou - CEFR) with the support of French Embassy in Russia and French Institute (Institut Français).
HSE Computer Science Faculty Student to Present His Project to British Minister of Transport
Third year software engineering student Vadim Drobinin took part in the Hacktrain hackathon last weekend in Britain (November 21-22). The project, developed by the international team Vadim is part of, will be presented to the British Minister of Transport and compete for 25,000 pounds worth of investment.
HSE Joins Top-100 in the QS Rankings of Young Universities
HSE is the only Russian university to win a place in the top 100 QS rankings of universities under 50.
Eduniversal Confers 3 Palmes of Excellence on HSE Faculty of Business and Management
Eduniversal, the international rankings agency has awarded the 3 Palms of Excellence level to the HSE Faculty of Business and Management and recognised it as ‘an outstanding business school with increasing international influence’. An HSE representative received the certificate in a ceremony on campus at Harvard University.
HSE Pushes ahead Six Places in QS EECA-2015 Ranking
The QS University Rankings: EECA 2015 was published on October 21, assessing universities from 30 countries in Emerging Europe and Central Asia for 150 coveted positions in the ranking. Over the past year, the Higher School of Economics has gone from 37th place to 31st, improving across all metrics.

On October 19, HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov took part in a meeting hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets at the Russian White House to discuss ways of improving the global competitiveness of Russian universities.
