Campus news at HSE University

The conference ESA 2013 – Crisis, Critique and Change took place in Turin, in Italy at the end of August 2013. It was organized jointly by the ESA and the Turin University Department of Culture, Politics and Society. Three papers from the Laboratory for Sociology Education and Science at HSE Saint Petersburg Campus were presented at the conference.

The Laboratory for Comparative Social Research at the HSE Saint Petersburg opened the 2013 Fall seminar series today. Andrey Shcherbak, senior research fellow at LCSR  presented a report on 'Soviet Nationalism in the Historical and Comparative Perspective'. He gave a short description of the major findings of his report to the HSE news service.

Andrey Podolsky, HSE Professor of the Graduate School of Education, has become the first scientist in Eastern Europe to be inducted as a member of the International Academy of Education.  

The Higher School of Economics has held its position in the QS World University Rankings in the 500-550 group. A Russian version of the ranking system was presented by RIA Novosti on the 10^th September 2013.

September 9, 2013, the HSE and the Liberal Mission Foundation held a roundtable discussion ‘Economics and Sociology: Lessons of Interaction’ in memory of Tatyana Zaslavskaya.

HSE is beginning its 21st year and it promises to be an eventful one. The university needs to make another leap forward and improve its international competitiveness significantly. Here is Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov’s beginning of term address.

This summer, the HSE Perm Faculty of Management organized its first international summer school on urban projects. The summer school 'Urban Projects: From Ideas to Implementation' focused on designing a campus park. Irina Shafranskaya, Deputy Dean of the HSE Perm Faculty of Management, shared her impressions of the summer school.

An international pre-summit conference “G20 Partnership for Growth and Jobs” will be held at the Higher School of Economics on 29 August 2013. The conference discussions will focus on the Russian G20 Presidency priorities and the forthcoming St. Petersburg Summit`s agenda; current challenges the G20 members face and the recommendations for their solution.
