HSE Graduate School of Business Climbs Higher in Eduniversal Ranking
The HSE Graduate School of Business has risen to a new level in the prestigious international Eduniversal Best Business Schools Ranking 2025, receiving 4 Palmes of Excellence. This status is awarded to world-leading business schools that demonstrate significant international influence, high academic standards, and sustainable connections with the global professional community.
The Eduniversal International Ranking is one of the key benchmarks in the field of business education, annually evaluating the 1,000 best business schools from 153 countries around the world. Its methodology is based on a three-step assessment system. In the first step, the official list of schools is determined according to quantitative and qualitative criteria, including the level of economic development of the country, educational traditions, and the scale of higher education. Then each school receives a certain number of ‘palmes of excellence’—from one to five—depending on the level of international influence, the availability of accreditations, and partnerships with international universities. The final step involves an assessment of the institutions by the deans of the world's leading business schools, which reflects the level of recognition from the professional community.
The advancement of the Graduate School of Business is the result of a comprehensive assessment of a number of parameters. Eduniversal experts noted the high level of educational programmes, their close integration with business, successful international activity, and impressive graduate employment rates.
Today, about 5,500 students (including almost 700 international students from more than 60 countries) study on 18 degree programmes at the HSE Graduate School of Business. The GSB offers 18 exchange programmes and two double-degree programmes. The educational programmes combine academic depth and practical focus through interaction with 200 corporate partners of the business school.
Eduniversal experts appreciated the high level of the MBA and CPD programmes, as confirmed by feedback from students and the career paths of graduates, as well as the school’s leading positions in management research.
The 4 Palmes of Excellence category awarded to the Graduate School of Business confirms its status as a top business school with significant international influence in the professional and academic community. The Eduniversal release states that in the context of global changes, the GSB’s business education model remains flexible. The official award ceremony will take place in November during the annual Eduniversal World Convention at IIM Indore, one of India's leading business schools. HSE Researchers Make Aldehydes Perform Dual Function
Chemists from HSE University have discovered a way to carry out a reductive addition reaction without using an external reducing agent. Instead, the required 'resource' is supplied by the aldehyde itself, one of the reaction participants. This approach helps prevent unwanted side reactions, reduces toxicity, and simplifies the production and synthesis of organic molecules, including those used in the manufacture of medicines. Education in a Changing World: Russian–Chinese Dialogue in Beijing

These questions were at the heart of the international forum ‘Reconfiguring Education in a Changing World: Russia–China Dialogues on Higher Education, Skills, and Research Training’, held in China in mid-June. The event was jointly organised by the HSE Institute of Education and the Graduate School of Education of Peking University, which hosted the forum on its campus.

At the end of May, HSE University in Moscow received a delegation from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil), which has held a strong, long-standing partnership with HSE. HSE Scientists Develop Method to Compress Large Language Models Without Losing Quality
Researchers from the AI and Digital Science Institute at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new compression method for large language models such as GPT and LLaMA that reduces their size by 25–36% without additional training or significant loss of accuracy. This is the first approach to use mathematical transformations—specifically, rotations of model weights—to make models more amenable to compression with structured matrices. Machine Learning Models Can Help Reduce Volatility and Boost Stock Market Returns
The use of machine learning models makes it possible to achieve greater accuracy in predicting risks in the Russian stock market compared to classical econometric approaches. The predictive power of these models increases by 23%, while the average investor’s return can reach up to 13% per annum. These conclusions were drawn by Nikita Lysenok from the Department of Financial Market Infrastructure at the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences.
