
HSE Winter School: The Whole World in Miniature
From January 24 to February 4, HSE's Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs hosted an international winter school. Sixty students from across the globe (Korea, Japan, China, Germany, Italy, Poland, Egypt, Morocco, to name but a few) came together for 12 days and were plunged into the hustle and bustle of daily life in Russia.

‘What Thrilled Me is How Close the Programme is to Real Business’
On February 6th, 2015 the Russian module of the international Master in European Business programme concluded. This programme is being run by the HSE International Institute of International Institute of Administration and Business (IIAB) together with ESCP EUROPE business school. In the second semester, students will continue their studies in various ESCP campuses around Europe: London, Berlin, Torino, Paris, and Madrid.

HSE’s Faculty Expansion in Home Stretch
The ‘big’ Faculty of Business and Management is being formed at the Higher School of Economics. The Faculty will include the current Faculties of Management, Logistics, and Business Informatics, which will be turned into schools.
‘When We Study History, We Must Be Introspective’
Nathan Marcus, Assistant Professor of History, recently joined the HSE campus in St. Petersburg. A scholar of Modern European History, he has a book that will soon be published by Harvard University Press. Recently, he spoke with the HSE news service about his research and teaching interests, as well as on the important role that studying history plays in today’s society.

First-year Advertising Students Practice Organizing a Conference
On the 28th January the VI international conference Raising Effectiveness in Social Advertising in Russia, ESARUSSIA-2015 was held at the Russian Public Chamber. Students from theHSE Faculty of Communications, Media and Design helped to organise it as a practical in their project seminar on Advertising and Public Communications. The students were entrusted with everything from writing press releases to finding sponsors.
‘Our Programme Turns Tourism Lovers into Professionals’
Professor Valery Gordin, Head of the Faculty of Economics and Management at HSE St Petersburg, presents the Master’s Programme The Experience Economy; Hospitality and Tourism Management. He is academic supervisor of the course which comes under the Events Management and Cultural Tourism field of study at HSE St Petersburg. Teaching is in Russian and English.
Usable Pasts
In 2015, the international master's programme in English will launch, called Applied and Interdisciplinary History 'Usable Pasts'.The programme is headed by Associate Professor at the School of History of the St Petersburg Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Julia Lajus.
