CREATIVE HUB to Host Autosave Music Festival
On June 10, the CREATIVE HUB space will host lectures and concert performances by teachers and students of Sound Art and Sound Design. The event programme will run from 5 pm–10 pm and features student compositions and works by modern composers.

Members of the KNIVE vocal ensemble and the HSE Crew dance studio represented HSE University at the opening ceremony and the festival town, while students Polina Subbotina and Yulia Mukharamova were included in the Perm Krai delegation that won the festival’s main prize in the team scoring.

‘Screen Arts. Roll Call’ Exhibition of the HSE Art and Design School Opens in Kaliningrad
The ‘Screen Arts. Roll Call’ cultural and educational project of the HSE Art and Design School will be exhibited at the Baltic branch of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Kaliningrad until July 16, 2023. The project is a continuation of an HSE ART GALLERY exhibition held in September 2022. The exhibition presents a dialogue between three generations: pioneers of video art in Russia, young classicists, and students of the HSE Art and Design School who are uncovering new possibilities in screen arts.
HSE University and GES-2 to Hold Conference on Study of Deafness
On May 21, HSE University’s International Laboratory for Social Integration Research, together with the GES-2 House of Culture, will organise the first International Interdisciplinary Conference ‘What Does It Mean to Be Deaf? New Challenges for the Community’. The forum dedicated to the social, cultural and linguistic foundations of the deaf community’s functioning in the country and the world is planned in offline and online formats.

In honour of HSE University’s 30th anniversary in November 2022, the RT television channel made a documentary film called 2052: See the Future. The film is dedicated to the university’s research achievements and how they will change the world in the decades to come. The film was released this year in English and Arabic. The first festival screening of 2052: See the Future took place as part of the 7th Gagarin.doc International Festival of Cinema, Science and Contemporary Art.
‘My Work in the Industry Can Do a Lot to Advance Science with the Help of Unique Data’
To devote one’s time to scientific research does not at all mean to engage in abstract academic reflection. Vasily Minkov, who graduated first from the HSE’s Faculty of Social Sciences and then from its Faculty of Computer Science, conducts research as a bioinformatician at the BostonGene medical company. He even managed to give his musical project a cultural and anthropological focus. In this interview with Success Builder, Mr. Minkov explained how the brain is studied in HSE laboratories, what bioinformatics is and why working in the industry is useful for a scientist.
