Studying Public Policy at HSE

Wanda Umagapi and Isa Muhammed from Indonesia have come to HSE in order to study on the English-taught master’s programme in Political Analysis and Public Policy. They hope to learn how to deal with major issues in their country. In an interview with online student magazine ReadSquare they share their experience of living and studying in Russia.

‘Living and Working in Moscow Broadens a Person’s Intellectual Scope’

Dr. Tim Jaekel, Assistant Professor at the School of Public Administration at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, holds a PhD in Political Science from Heidelberg University. Before joining HSE in 2015, he served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the German Research Institute for Public Administration in Speyer and as a teaching fellow at the German University of Administrative Sciences.

American Linguistics Student Finds Fresh Ideas and Innovation at HSE

Jon Rawski came to HSE last year to study in the Master's programme Cognitive Sciences and Technologies: From Neuron to Cognition. He finds the programme, which is taught in English, to be quite satisfying because it is new – it was launched in September 2014 – and is filled with fresh ideas. The programme brings together a talented group of researchers who enjoy a considerable level of support from the university.

‘If You Want to Collaborate with a Foreign Country, You Must Learn Its History and Culture First’

On September 24, 2015, a delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan (MOST) visited HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK).  With the goal to identify perspective areas of cooperation, researchers of HSE and MOST delegates shared their unique fields of expertise and discussed key trends and instruments of Taiwan’s and Russia’s state policy on international cooperation in science, technology, and industrial innovation. During the visit, Dr. Yi-Bing Lin, Taiwan’s Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, gave an interview to the HSE news portal, in which he cited Karl Marx’s theory, while talking about big data and futures studies.

HSE. Cornerstone: 3 Kantemirovskaya, Saint Petersburg

In September 2015, after undergoing a major overhaul, part of the HSE St. Petersburg campus opened at 3 Kantemirovskaya St., Building 1A, becoming the home of the School of Economics and Management. This building was previously the location of a weaving mill that had had several names and owners over its more than 100-year history.

On Monday 28th September Bernhard Ganter, Professor of Science at the renowned university TU-Dresden in Germany, co-founder and co-director of the Museum of Mathematics, Erlebnisland-Mathematik,  will give a public lecture at HSE on Mathematics as an Adventure.
