Psychologists Sergey Andreev and Egor Surdeykin are both graduates of HSE University. Together with other graduates of the university, they created a project to provide supplementary education for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The programme for middle- and high-school students covers such subjects as computer science, programming, and mathematics.

HSE University Students Win Prizes at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students
The 29th International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC 2022) took place in early August in a mixed format in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) and online. Eight students of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science and the HSE Faculty of Mathematics won prizes at the competition.
44th Moscow International Film Festival to Present Film by HSE Student
The Double Planet Theory, a film directed by fourth-year HSE Art and Design School student Savely Osadchy, is on the list of the main Short Film Competition at the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF). The festival runs from August 26 to September 2 and features more than 230 films from 65 countries. Only two Russian films are taking part in the Short Film Competition.
Second HSE University Satellite Launched from Baikonur
On August 9, a Soyuz 2.1b rocket launched with a payload of HSE University’s second satellite, which will monitor the land surface of the Arctic region. HSE MIEM Deputy Director Andrey Abrameshin spoke about the university’s space plans, while Top Class competition winner Alexey Gilenko shared his impressions of the launch at Baikonur Cosmodrome.
HSE Lyceum Student Wins Silver at International Economics Olympiad
All five participants from Russia received awards at the Fifth International Economics Olympiad for high school students. The students won three gold and two silver awards. Dmitry Monakhov, who graduated from the HSE Lyceum this year, received a silver medal and shared his impressions of the event with the HSE News Service.
‘You Need to Properly Evaluate Your Project, See Its Strengths and Weaknesses, and Sell It’
Sixteen HSE University students are among the winners of the Student Startup Competition organised by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Innovation Assistance Foundation. The winners will receive one million rubles each to develop their business projects. One of the winners was HSE MIEM student Maxim Bezel, who presented the financial game ‘Game of Projects’.

The first graduation ceremony for the joint HSE University and Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) Bachelor’s Programme in Economics took place in Vladivostok. 43 students were each awarded two diplomas. The programme, launched at the School of Economics and Management of Far Eastern Federal University in 2018, gives students the opportunity to master Russia's strongest programme and earn a diploma from HSE University without leaving the Far East. HSE University currently offers 11 double degree programmes at undergraduate and graduate level with nine Russian universities.
ICEF Graduates Celebrated at HSE Cultural Centre
The class of 2022 faced the difficulties of the pandemic, moving to the new campus in Pokrovka, and completing their studies in a difficult geopolitical climate. This year's graduation ceremony was held at HSE University itself, allowing the graduates to celebrate their achievements together with their families, whose support was praised by HSE Rector, Nikita Anisimov, as well as hear praise from other members of the HSE management team.
More than 10,000 HSE Students Pass Digital Skills Exam
This year, for the first time, all first-year students took independent exams as part of the university-wide Data Culture project. These exams checked the level of digital literacy, algorithmic thinking and programming, as well as data analysis and artificial intelligence skills. HSE students and Head of the Data Culture project Olga Podolskaya spoke about the exams and preparation process.
